Education is a vital tool to promote understanding and gives disadvantaged children the ability to achieve their full potential as tomorrow's global citizens. We aid this process through:

***School Linking :Starfish Malawi facilitates the building of partnerships between schools in UK and Malawi to provide an opportunity for teachers, children and communities to collaborate and expand their inter-cultural knowledge, form friendships and enhance understanding.

****School Infrastructure Improvement :Availability of new classrooms is important to increasing access to education especially in rural schools in Malawi. Working alongside local communities we renovate and/or replace temporary teaching shelters with permanent classrooms and this includes access to clean drinking water and toilet facilities.

*** Student sponsorships:We support students from resource poor households and orphans with scholarships so that they complete secondary education enabling them to gain a qualification and fruitful employment.

***Children's clubs: Starfish provides guidance to pupils for their spiritual growth.

Nearly 60 schools in mainly Kent and Sussex are now linked with two regions in Malawi, Salima and Kasungu.

Nearly 50 teachers from these schools have visited Malawi and one school Pluckley Primary School in the Weald of Kent has received two teachers from their link school. We hope that this will be the first of many.
Headteachers in schools linked with Oaklands, Leybourne and Weald came from Malawi in 2010.

The link schools are working on joint curriculum initiatives to enable greater awareness and understanding between the communities.
