****We held our annual dinner at Sandhurst Baptist Church on Friday June 6th but unfortunately our guest speaker Fitta Chipeta did not arrive in the UK in time but over 100 supporters enjoyed a very pleasant evening with good food and an interesting update by Chris Knott on the various projects in Malawi.
***When Fitta did arrive a few days later, he was able to visit several churches and many schools, especially those with teachers who had already visited Malawi or are going this October.
***Congratulations to all 11 African Revival runners in the London Marathon but especially to Katy Pickford and Jason Field running for Starfish. Katy finished in 4 hours 21 mins and Jason in 4 hours 23 mins. A great effort for both of them who raised over £5000 for Malawi.
***Over 80 schools in Kent, East Sussex and Essex have been linked with schools in Malawi. Already meaningful contacts have been made between many of the schools.
***Another container will be loaded at Easistore, Tunbridge Wells in August to send to Malawi. Stationery and other scholastic items are particularly required to be sent by UK schools to their partners in Malawi. We would again like to thank Easistore for their valuable help in donating storage space for our projects.
***FRUITY FACES
is an organisation that helps children to follow their five a day regime by means of inflatable fruit carriers. Much of their profit is given to African Revival. For more information click on the following link.
www.fruityfaces.com .
***We are now part of African Revival that is involved in many projects in different parts of
Africa. You can see more of the work on www.africanrevival.org .
***Starfish Malawi has now been approved by the BBC World Class Global Gateway Programme as an authorised member providing schools links. Our aim is to link 100 schools in Malawi with 100 in the UK. This is a very exciting development. For more information call Chris Knott on 01580 850251. If you know of a local primary school which may be interested give Chris a call. See FRIENDS MALAWI section for more details. |
