Starfish Malawi is a registered charity number 1130350.

***The Starfish Malawi CD has just been issued by Roly and Rosie accompanied by over 2000 children from 19 schools in the UK and two in Malawi. Already most of the first batch of 3000 have been ordered by schools.Children from Lamberhurst CE Primary School in Kent were featured on the BBC singing the song with several of the pupils being interviewed. If you would like to order a CD you may do by by emailing Terry Pickford at terrypickford@tiscali.co.uk

***A group from Bradford Girls Grammar has been to Malawi during the Summer holidays and did some valuable painting and plastering for Starfish.

***The Sponsored Walk at Bewl Water on 26th June was a huge success with hot sunny weather. Most did the 7 miles to the ferry whilst the more intrepid did the whole 13 or so miles. Great fun with large numbers taking part. At this stage it looks as if Starfish will benefit from well over £10,000.

***GARDEN SAFARI - SANDHURST KENT
Despite a few showers a good turnout of people enjoyed the 14 gardens which were on the Garden Safari at Sandhhurst. Yuri Knott's hard work in organising the event was well rewarded by all the appreciative comments from those who took part. Many thanks to all those who helped om the day and contributed so much tasty food. Many people came to know of Starfish for the first time and the event raised over £1500 - a great effort.

***Emmanuel, Maryanne and Daniel are now back in Malawi after a busy few weeks in the UK visiting family, friends and supporters. They would like to thank everyone who made their stay in England so enjoyable and productive. They have lots to do back home with visits from a World Challenge group from Bradford Grammar, two Soapbox teams as well as more informal visits. There is also, of course, the day to day leadership and oversight of Starfish.

***Well done to Sophie Knott who raised £1102.50 (+ Gift Aid of £282.76) by running the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford recently. Can you help in the same way?

***Sunday 21st March three Malawi Headteachers arrived in the UK to visit their link schools accompanied by the Kasungu Link Coordinator Fitta. They were Jonathan from Kanthenga, linked with Weald Primary School in Sevenoaks: Caswell from Sopani linked with Oaklands Primary School in Biggin Hill and Austine from Kauyemba, linked with Leybourne C of E Primary School. A reception was held for all the teachers at Leybourne on Monday 22nd March at which Headteacher Vanessa Dunnet thanked Starfish and especially Chris Knott for enabling the Schools Linking to take place. The heads all enjoyed and appreciated their visit.

***The container for Malawi was loaded on the 30th January and caused great excitement when it was unloaded recently in Malawi. We would like to thank all those who helped in the loading at Tunbridge Wells. Special thanks again to Easistore for donating storage space for us so generously.

***Maggie Mitchell is coordinating our Secondary School Sponsorship scheme. If you would like to sponsor a child to go to secondary school, do contact her on 01622 812297.
