Glad Tidings Orphan Care is one of the original Starfish partners. Key workers look after over 240 orphans in extended family sitautions. These people provide stability and life framewrok for the children.
The basis of this work revolves around community participation, which brings empowerment - helping the community to help themselves in the following ways.
1. Sewing training.
2. Food production.
3. Secondary school sponsorship for 20 students.
4. caring for and looking out for the orphans in school , home and play through regular monitoring of weight , health and progress in school.
5. Spiritual guidance.
Glad Tidings has:
1. rescued children like Jane from an arranged early marriage so she can complete primary school.
2. supported 13 year old Esmeli and baby Imedi.
3. provided food, soap, toilets, clothes and school uniforms to 240 orphans.
4. dug a bore hole for regular clean safe water.
5. established nursery classes. |
