EMMANUEL AND MARYANNE

Emmanuel and Maryanne Uwaezuoke live in Malawi near the lake in Salima. They have worked there as missionaries together for almost four years (Maryanne for six) in rural community development.

Emmanuel started as Country Director for Starfish Malawi in january 2009. He manages the Starfish staff team, and oversees the programmes we fund. He has a background in training rural church pastors and youth leaders, establishing youth programmes and prison ministry.

Maryanne's role is to assist in the administration of the work covering reports, finances, etc. and to also directly support the work of Glad Tidings Orphan Care – one of the organizations Starfish funds. They have just fostered a gorgeous little boy, Daniel, who is just over a year old with the hope of adopting him in a year’s time. Her background is in social work and administration.

They are enjoying their new roles and working with the Starfish team, lots to learn but a real sense of pulling together to serve the children and young people of Malawi. They believe Starfish offers them a hope and a future – sounds like a cliché but they genuinely see this happening in their lives through school linking programmes, secondary school sponsorships, orphan care programmes, school reconstruction, vocational training, etc.

They look forward to meeting some of you during a visit to the UK soon, visa permitting, or hosting you as you visit Starfish here in Malawi.
